House adopts resolution backing Pacquiao

By Maricel Cruz – The House of Representatives on Monday adopted a resolution urging the Department of Education to include the life story of Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel Pacquiao in the school curriculum of grade school students.

House Resolution 2946, authored by Bacolod City Rep. Anthony Golez, cited Pacquiao’s hard work, resilience, humility and generosity, virtues that should be emulated by Filipino youth.

“Congressman Manny is truly an exceptional Filipino. He has brought fame to our country and provides inspiration to all Filipinos that if you just work hard and stay determined, you can fulfill and achieve your dreams. Young Filipinos should be instilled with the virtues and discipline that Cong. Manny exhibits” the resolution read.

The resolution also expressed “solidarity” in supporting Pacquiao for the glory and achievements he has brought and is bringing to the Philippines.

Pacquiao suffered a knockout loss against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in a boxing match last Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The resolution underscored the need for the young minds to understand Pacquaio’s resilience and hard work in becoming a world renowned sports icon.
