Manny Pacquiao wins rematch vs. Antonio Barrera

Associated Press
LAS VEGAS – Though Marco Antonio Barrera kept his feet, Manny Pacquiao kept his supremacy.

Pacquiao beat Barrera on Saturday night for the second time, winning a gritty, unanimous decision nearly four years after the Philippines’ favorite son became a boxing superstar with an upset victory against Barrera.

Neither Pacquiao (45-3-2, 35 knockouts) nor Barrera (63-6) generated many fireworks until a strong finish in their 130-pound bout at Mandalay Bay. The lightning-quick Pacquiao showed in his sixth consecutive victory that his world-class reflexes haven’t slowed.

“It was a good fight, and it was different from the first fight,” Pacquiao said. “He’s a good, smart boxer. I’m satisfied with the result. I knew he would have to box me this time around.”

    Mabuhay,

  4. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

Manny is a great fighter, it’s a pity that he only has a sixth grade education, and will most likely ended up like so many other fighters in the Philippines broke.

  5. Datu Puti says:

  6. Datu Puti says:

Check your facts, Smith. He received his high school diploma (or equivalent) early on this year and will pursue his degree in hopes that he will one day get his J.D. and be better able and qualified to serve the people as a politician.

  7. Munti says:

Aah come on Datu, kay Barrera ka ba pumusta (j lang).
I hate boxing, sabung at laban ng gagamba.,, but this is great,,.. a Pinoy Pride for me.

Robert,, sugal? LA is the best place.
You have one meter space here to answer this !!

  8. Munti says:

sorry not LA but Las Vegas

  9. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

    Datu
In other words her never got a REAL diploma. As far as him getting a law degree he better learn to read and write english better then he can speak it. My wife has 3 lawyers and one judge in her family and they speak english as good if not better then most Americans WHYor HOW COME, you may ask? simple because LAW in the Philippines is taught in ENGLISH. I don’t think you need a Law degree to help people. I think Manny is looking to loot the country screw him his a uneducated fighter who lost his last election for congress stick to what you know best BOXEO PARE!! become a trainer, manager in your field.

  10. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

Noli De Castro is taking PACMAN for a ride LMAO!

  11. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

Chief are you a Manny BLOW-HARD! I bet you’d get down on your knees for Pac-Man wouldn’t you?

  12. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

Manny is a EXCELLENT BOXER on of the best and will go down in history as one in his weight class. But the fact of the matter remains the same the guy isn’t very smart. I’ll bet every penny I have that in 20 yrs he won’t have a peso to his name just like most boxers PUNCH-DRUNK!

  13. Datu Puti says:

What makes you think you have twenty years left, Smith?

  14. Bernarda says:

DP, please don’t see Col. Smithe as an antagonist. He is just making a comment based on his personal knowledge about our culture. He obviously has lived in our country long enough to know what a Filipino is like, on a general level. He seems to have assimilated into our way of life. He is not criticizing us. He is just telling us what he thinks. Let’s not get personal because that is deviating from the line of discussion. Quite frankly, and unfortunately, there are some truth to what he is saying. Do not let temper get the better of you as that would reflect poorly on all of us Filipinos. Chill out :-D

  15. Munti says:

Bernarda, kindly check on previous news the comments, judgement, intimidations of this Ret.Col. before favoring him.And try one time contrasting his views, you can prove the cream of his Pesonality. ha ha ha

  16. Datu Puti says:

It was not a subjective statement. He claims to be a retired Colonel “Retired from the USMC 1970-1994” so I’d put his age at at least 59, that’s if he went to Annapolis at the age of 18. Since he refuses to tell us what his function was in the Corps or whether or not he was in ‘Nam, we’d have to assume that he was exposed to some “Hazmat” like Agent Orange, which should shave off a few years. 59 + 20 would be 79, the U.S. life expectancy, as of 2005, is 77.71; the Philippine life expectancy, according the the same report published on the same year (Yahoo world factbook), is 69.91. The probability of him being around to fulfill his end of the bet is rather slim.

  17. Bernarda says:

Hahaha, I do understand your points of view re the “colonel” and I am not really siding with him. I’ve seen his input here and some are quite obnoxious. But the thing is… we shouldn’t let someone like him upset us. We are above the likes of him. He is probably married to someone whose family is “well-placed”; hence the attitude. And of course, you know what it’s like here in the Phils – it’s who you know, not what you know . But we cannot discount the fact that he speaks some truth about our culture, too. I just want to be fair to both sides.

  18. Col. Smithe ( USMC Ret'd ) says:

Datu Your comments about agent orange prove that your are a simpleton, no one but GOD knows my true life expectancy. You should be ashamed of making such a comment about AG cost a lot of good men their lives or ruined them. You can wish me dead ASAP if it makes you feel good but I personally could careless because your know important to me. Your just a ADULT punk that most likely lives in his parents basement, and is still FREE LOADING from them, I certain you haven’t done anything productive or of great value with their life despite, living in a country like the United States of America where almost anyone can achive greatness if your willing to work hard, your just pissed off LAZY BUM I bet you sleep alot. LOL

  19. Chief says:

    Lols Datu..

  20. Col. Smithe says:

Pac-Man earned 300K in last fight minus the TAXES!! which he will have to pay because the imcome is so widely known in the Philippines. AS I mentioned before will be BROKE!!!! sooner then later, watch the clip.

  21. Col. Smithe says:

Manny Pacquiao is now a MASTER SARGENT Despite never having to attend one day of boot camp or commit to service in defense of the country. Once again a poor uneducated man exposing himself as a useful idiot that is being used by powerful people, with plans to use this village idiot on political campaign trail in the future. LMAO!!

  22. Col. Smithe says:

I’m not pissed off about Manny earning 300K in fact I think he deserves MORE then that when you consider how much TV networks are making from pay-per view and local Philippine TV from advertising pesos. And lets not for those hotel casinos where the fights are being held.

My service to the country was voluntary. I choose a military career. So you’ll never hear me complain about my salary, and by the way a officers salary it’s so bad plus I’m getting a very nice retirement benefit package from the USG for the rest of my life. Aside from my local manufacturing business I net I lot more money then Pac-Man does. And 75,000 USD all tax free. I have my own corporation I pay myself a modest salary and save the rest, I have tax free bonds own lots of land own US T-Bills and stocks Filipino and American companies, and I’m well diversified financially . With ZERO DEBT, I live well, and I take care of my family our house helpers and closet friends which are very FEW.

  23. reb_el z. says:

yes, i like to gloat about myself too much too…

    including my “closet” friends.

    hahaha

  24. Col. Smithe says:

Yes! I’m proud of my accomplishments!nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Of course your a self admitted low wage earner that continues to FREE LOAD off the earnings of your parents rather then standing on your own two feet like a REAL MAN. But you have no shame in the way you live your life, no self honor for the Man/Little Boy who looks back at you in the mirror EVERYDAY. I know as a parent when you were younger your parents had big dreams for you, and wanted to mold you into a SUCCESSFUL person in life, and you let them DOWN instead you became a SIMPLETON.

  25. Datu Puti says:

4 U.S. Marines rape another young girl in Hiroshima…

But I guess since Nicole is Filipino, it still means she’s a slut and her alleged attackers are innocent

  26. Lorie says:

May I requests comments to be in context? This is a thread about Pacquiao’s fight, not Nioole the prostitute from Subic. Thanks.

  27. Datu Puti says:

Lorie, this is just an appendage to my arguement on the case. I really don’t feel like looking for tha particular thread. It’s just a reminder. Prostitute, right.

Is it making you that confused? In context, huh. Can’t tell the difference between Nicole and Pacman? Think that every filipina that happens to befriend a marine is a prostitute? Or is it because it was in Subic. Another self hating bigot.

  28. Datu Puti says:

Someone took off my quack quack! Censured for what? What happened to balance? Grrrr
