His music bore witness to his patriotism and it was also an inspiration to the youth to engender love for country. There’s no doubt that Francis Magalona made a fruitful stay on earth. And his journey never ends.

In a simple ceremony in Malacañang, a presidential order of merit was awarded to the late master rapper.

Having worked with Magalona, Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Tito Sotto was one of the many people who encouraged the Palace to award the “King of Pinoy Rap.”

In a report from “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon,” Magalona’s family was filled with gratitude as President Arroyo herself bestowed the award.

Saab, Magalona’s daughter, said: “We’re very proud and thankful to the President for giving this award for our dad. She made the family very happy. And I know she knows that my father made the nation very happy as well.”

Wife Pia said her family was proud of what Magalona had done for them and for the country.

“It’s mostly pride and joy and ‘yong nararamdaman ng buong family ko naparangalan si Francis because of his works and it’s just fitting naman na bigyan siya ng ganitong award.”

When asked whether it was too late to receive the award knowing that the master rapper was gone, Pia replied, “Well, better late than never, di ba? Kasi as long as the action is there, that’s good.”

One of his daughters, Maxene, who also belongs in the entertainment industry, only had kind words for her father.

“Ever since proud na proud na talaga ako sa dad ko pero at this moment, sobra-sobra. As in I can’t really describe how proud I am. Basta sobra. This is such a big thing na parangalan ang daddy ko ng ganitong klase ng recognition and I’m sure matutuwa siya,” she said. – abs-cbnNEWS.com
