Government urges closure to Erap pardon

The Philippine government has again defended President Arroyo’s granting of executive clemency to former president Joseph Estrada as it asserted the importance of putting the issue behind and moving on once and for all.

“Arguing whether the pardon should have been granted now, or later, or not at all, serves no purpose,” Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said in his news column “View from the Palace” due to come out Monday.
