‘Arroyo regime worse than Marcos era’

BY LOUI GALICIA – The six-member jury on the Permanent People’s Tribunal found the administration of President Arroyo to be worse than the Marcos government it had tried in 1980.

The jury found the Gloria Macapagal Arroyo government, the George W. Bush government and their accomplices guilty of gross violations of human rights, economic and social rights and transgression of the national sovereignty of the Filipino people. (more…)

Opposition bets upload Web site for overseas Pinoy voters

Almost halfway into the campaign period, the Genuine Opposition (GO) finally came up with its own Web site to reach out to voters in cyberspace.

But the site appeared to be more of a blog site, where candidates’ press releases and announcements are posted on the site.

Philippines fires judge for ignorance

MANILA, Philippines, March 21 (UPI) — An appeals judge in the Philippines has been fired by the Supreme Court for ignorance of the law and granting too many trial delays.
Court of Appeals Justice Elvi John Asuncion was fired Tuesday and will lose all of his retirement benefits, the Manila Times reported Wednesday. (more…)
